Dear Jennifer, Please excuse this late reply. Yes, hypnotherapists are able to work with those clients with mild depression --- diagnosed clinical and severe depression are out of scope for us. A good hypnotherapist could take your father through the "stages of loss" during a hypnotic session. Even though it has been almost 2 years since the passing of your mom, he could be stuck in some aspect of grief and has not completely resolved his current situation. It's new, strange, and different now, he doesn't have a "taste" for life without her. He may also be suffering from some indecisiveness about his situation. The "no taste" is in the area of the body we call "The Crying Syndrome."
