Clinical Treatment of Threatened abortion and Habitual AbortThreatened abortion and habitual abortion are called Xiaochan or Huatai in Chinese medicine theory. The pathogenesis lies in the impairment of kidney-qi and debility of chong and ren vessels. As we all know, kidney dominates reproduction, kidney-qi deficiency can induce abortion. Chinese medicines of reinforcing kidney like fresh Muli (Oyster) , Sangjisheng (Loranthus Parasiticus) are used basically, at the same time, according to clinical manifestations, add Tusizi (dodder), Duzhong tan, Chuanxuduan, Jingouji, etc.; secondly, Chinese medicines of regulating stomach qi like Chenpi (Tangerine Peel ), Sugeng, Sharen (amomum), prepared Guya (millet sprout) etc. can be used; or add herbs of clearing away stomach heat like Huangqin (Scutellaria) or Zhuru; for qi deficiency, add Dangshen, Fuling and prepared Baishu, etc..
Basic prescription: Fresh Muli 15g, Sangjisheng 15g, Huangqin 10g, Zhuru 15g, Juziluo 15g, Sugeng 5g, prepared Guya 10g, Sharen (amomum) 5g. Modification: For kidney deficiency, add Tusizi 12g, Duzhong tan12g, Jingouji 12g, Chuanxuduan 12g, Shayuanzi 10g, etc.. For spleen deficiency, add fresh Huangqi 15g, Dangshen 10g, Fuling 30g, prepared Baishu 10g. For stomach yin deficiency, add Shihu 15g, and for kidney yin deficiency, add fresh Shengdi 30g. There are a few medicines in this prescription, and dosages are not forceful, but the clinical results are effective, it has cured 4 habitual abortion cases in recent years.
